Man Reveals: Why He Keeps Texting You If He’s Not Interested?

Guys don’t usually keep texting someone if they’re not interested in them, but if they do, it could be one of several simple reasons.

As in life, the simplest explanation is usually the right one, but let’s run through some of the possibilities just to make sure all bases are covered.

Boredom

People get bored and texting is something to do. It may not be the most thrilling activity in the world, but it is at least entertaining.

Women undoubtedly enjoy texting and the attention involved more than men. I once saw an article titled, “Is it bad that I enjoy texting my boyfriend more than talking to him in person?” I’m going to go with ‘yes’ on this one. That is weird and makes no sense. Although I highly doubt that’s common, it made me realize just how much some girls like texting.

Personally, I don’t like to always have my phone in my hand. I remember the days when you used to call the girl you liked every night at the same time, and you wouldn’t talk at all for the rest of the day.

The reason texting has taken its place is because you can text multiple people at once from anywhere at any time. Receiving a text actually gives you an endorphin rush.

It can feel good at times, but when you have a busy life, texting becomes a chore. With this logic, he is planning to eventually seek something from you, not just lead you on for no reason.

He’s keeping his options open

I read some dating advice online that said to text often because you have to “stay on her radar.” Maybe he believes that he should keep you on the back burner in case his current list of dating options runs out.

He may be waiting for a day when he is feeling lonely and looking for someone to ‘Netflix and chill’ with, even if it’s with someone he’s not interested in.

He may actually be interested

He might be playing the game. He could be tied up with a failing relationship that he knows is soon to end. It could also be a healthy relationship, but he enjoys talking to you. Or maybe he’s kind of mad at you about something. Or he is actually interested, but is having issues showing it? Maybe you should refresh yourself on how to tell if a guy likes you, and see if there are other clues that you missed.

If that is not the case though, I think a much larger question we should address here is: why are you still texting him if he’s not interested? If you can tell he’s not into you and it bothers you, cut him off.

What reason do you have to keep hoping and holding on if he really, truly isn’t interested? If he ever does finally invite you to hang out, it will almost surely be for quick gratification.

He might genuinely be looking for friendship

Maybe he just wants to be friends. If he is in fact friend-zoning you, it shouldn’t be too hard to get him to agree to meet under wholesome circumstances, like lunch in a public place or joining a group of your friends for an outing.

Try that and see if he comes. You should be able to feel out the situation and gather some clues as to what his intentions are—if he shows up.

Let’s be realistic

Above all, the most likely situation is that he is somewhat attracted to you and is planning to eventually hit you up when he’s got nothing else to do. Have you ever had this in mind for someone?

Guys with highly active dating lives do it all the time. It’s pretty normal, and if he ever does hang out with you, you’ll have the opportunity to prove that you’re better than just a random option.

Is there anything wrong with that approach to dating? Last time I checked, the dating world is a no-holds-barred arena. Young people generally do whatever they want with monogamy and honesty developing with age—for some people at least.

Most guys will hang out with any girl they deem good looking as long as they are single (and sometimes even if they aren’t). With that in mind, it’s not that difficult to understand why he keeps texting you.

A man’s honest truth here is: when he’s in the mood, he’ll try to hang out. Until then, either accept his ways or stop texting him. On the bright side, if you stop texting him, there is a chance he’ll make a move in order to prevent you from disappearing from his list of options, although it could also go the other way.
